Extensive Compliance Knowledge and Experience Richard has been a practicing attorney for 36 years with substantial experience in contested employment matters, employment practices and compliance, and workplace investigations in addition to having an active practice in strategic business litigation, documentation, and consultation. He has also had substantial workplace management experience as both a member of a prior law firm’s management committee, as well as Clark Hill’s Litigation Practice Group Leader and Recruiting Coordinator—experience that is a valuable asset to Clark Hill and MCA clients.

He is a regularly sought after guest speaker frequently relied upon by a wide variety of industry associations, bar associations, and clients to present critical recent topics and their current impact on businesses and the legal profession, including the National Association of Printing Manufacturers, the American Bar Association’s Taxation Section Leadership Council, the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys Association, and the Chicago Bar Association. Those topics include electronic discovery, document destruction and retention, employment handbooks, personnel file maintenance, data breach and security, email etiquette, and employment agreements.
Richard is a regular contributor to numerous legal and business publications. He is frequently published in “Illinois Banker” — the Illinois Bankers Association’s monthly magazine—in which he has provided guidance on current workplace issues and legal compliance involving workplace training, employee handbooks, including NLRA guidance, and performance reviews. He has also authored an article about the Federal Defend Trade Secrets Act in “Illinois Manufacturer”—the Illinois Manufacturers Association magazine. Richard has also served as the editor of the Business Management Daily’s “HR Specialist-Illinois Employment Law” monthly newsletter. Richard authors and supplements the “Motions, Affidavits and Orders” chapter of Volume 1 of the Illinois Institute For Continuing Legal Education’s “Illinois Civil Procedure" three volume set. Richard has served as co-editor of “The Trial Lawyer’s Guide,” a quarterly journal for trial lawyers previously published by the West Group.
