Compliance Perspective

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is over 18,327 pages long.  The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 is another 11,986 pages long.  And, states have their own lengthy disability laws, too. Have you had a chance to read them all yet?  If so, are they as clear as mud? If not, this highly engaging and interactive session will update you on the key essentials you need to know to safely navigate through today’s complex disability laws without creating lawsuits along the way.

Description and Core Competencies

In this course you will learn the latest complexity of issues arising under the ADA and ADAAA by reviewing the eight Enforcement Guidances issued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) which provide interpretations on key ADA issues including pre-employment inquiries and medical examinations, workers' compensation benefits, psychiatric conditions, the meaning of the term "qualified," and the requirement that employers provide reasonable accommodations. Understand how federal disability laws interact, and sometimes conflict, with state disability laws and how to lawfully comply with all the laws without violating any of them.
